Ebates – Paying you to Shop for Things you Already Buy

Disclosure: Some of the links in this article are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will make a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

Ebates is currently having a great promotion where they are giving 10% cash back to shoppers, so I thought I would write a post detailing what Ebates is!

What is Ebates?

I am an avid shopper, which is why I am also an avid Ebates user.  When I first heard about it from my sister I immediately thought that it was a scam!  Once I researched it further I found that it is very simple;  Ebates gets paid a commission by stores like Sephora, Macy’s and many other large retailers when people shop through Ebates’ site.  Ebates gives a percentage of their commission to customers like us, just for shopping through their links!  It doesn’t cost us any more money than if we were to go directly to that store; we just end up saving a little! The number of popular stores and brands that are available to shop from on Ebates is surprising.  From clothing, to jewelry, to contacts, to even travel booking sites, the choices are endless.

Here are some of the stores that provide cash back, though this list is a fraction of what’s really there:

Macys – Sephora – GAP – Shutterfly – ProFlowers – American Eagle – Cost Plus World Market – Oakley – Walmart – Coach – Dick’s Sporting Goods – Kay Jewelers – Tarte  – The Container Store – Dell – Graco – Overstock.com – Expedia – Kohl’s – Amazon – Microsoft – Big Lots – 1 800 Contacts – Sunglass Hut – Ugg

Is Ebates Only for Online Purchases?

You have the option to shop from Ebates’ website or their phone app.  Often times these stores have better cash back deals if you shop online, but many stores also have the option to shop in-store.  The most important thing to note is that you can never purchase something online or in the store and ask for cash back.  If you are shopping online, you must go through Ebates’ website or app to access a store’s website in order to receive the cash back offer.  If you are shopping in-store, you must add your credit card to your Ebates account, link in-store cash back offers to your card, and then use that particular card when shopping at your desired store!  These small steps can save you a lot of money on purchases you were already planning on making.

How/When Do I Get Paid?

Ebates gives you 2 options to receive payment: Deposit your payment into your PayPal account or mail you a check that you can deposit into your bank account.  There is also an option to donate your earnings to your favorite charity or organization!

Ebates sends your cash back payment once every 3 months in the months of February, May, August and November.
